How it works:
Hexlox "locks" the Allen bolts on your bike parts with inserts that can only be removed using the Hexlox key. That way, your components stay protected in a discreet and effective way.

Question: How secure is Hexlox?
Answer: The Hexlox system significantly increases the security of your bike parts. But no lock in the world is 100% secure — not against someone who’s got enough time, motivation, and the right tools. That’s just reality when it comes to security, especially for bikes and bike parts.

Most thefts happen on impulse: someone walks past a bike, notices a wheel or saddle isn’t properly locked, and grabs it. Then there are the pros — organized and prepared with a plan.

All lock makers, including us at Hexlox, design products mainly to stop those opportunistic thieves. Hexlox is an anti-theft system made specifically for bike parts — wheels, seatposts, saddles, and anything fastened with standard hex bolts. The idea is simple but effective: a small magnetic insert that blocks access to the bolt. Without the right key, it’s really hard to get in.

We always recommend combining Hexlox with a solid frame lock and securing your bike to something fixed, like a lamppost or bike rack. Security works in layers — one solution on its own is never enough.

Question: How do the Hexlox key code, the Hexlox key, and the Hexlox insert work together?
Answer: The Hexlox key and insert — if they share the same code — fit together perfectly. The shape of the key matches the insert exactly, but only with the same 3-digit code. Different keycodes mean slightly different shapes.

That’s why we call it a “key” — it works pretty much like the key to your front door. If you compare a Hexlox key with a different code, you’ll notice the tip looks just a little bit different. Not much, but you can see it.

Question: Can I remove the insert with a magnet?
Answer: No. The insert can only be removed mechanically with the correct key. External magnets don’t affect the system.
