Suunto just unveiled their latest sports watch, the Suunto Race, aiming to stand toe-to-toe with industry giants while keeping your wallet happy. As a fitness enthusiast seeking peak performance without shelling out a fortune, this could be your go-to gadget.

The Suunto Race isn't pulling any punches. Boasting a generous display that captures a plethora of training metrics and offline map support, this wearable is a powerhouse. Remarkably, the battery can endure up to 40 hours with GPS activated and an impressive 26 days in its regular operational mode. It's undoubtedly targeting the Garmin Forerunner 965 and the Polar Vantage V3, but it manages to undercut both in terms of price.

I'm excited about the Suunto Race's launch. Starting at €449 / £389, the stainless steel model is already a steal, and the titanium version, priced at €549 / £479, doesn't break the bank either.

What's more, the features are simply impressive. Sporting a 1.43-inch AMOLED display and an intuitive digital crown for seamless navigation, it's a user-friendly powerhouse. The robust build withstands extreme temperatures from -20° C to +55° C and is military-tested, while the sapphire crystal shields the display, and it can handle water depths of up to 100 meters.

When it comes to health and fitness tracking, the Suunto Race goes all-in. Utilizing heart-rate variability (HRV) measurements, it provides valuable insights into health and recovery, enabling smarter training decisions. The inclusion of free, detailed downloadable maps further empowers athletes, ensuring navigation even without their phones.

Versatility is key here. With over 95 sports modes for both indoor and outdoor activities and support for Strava segments in activities like running and cycling, training versatility is well covered.
